High Effectiveness

Patented technology of drying at 28°С results in dry polycarbonate which has the same performance as the parent composition.

Product Range

Product range includes effective water-reducing and plasticizing agents for a variety of applications.

High Dispersion Ability

SINTEFLOW dry polycarboxylate ethers are readily soluble in water even at the temperature close to 0°С.

Production of Dry Polycarboxylate Ethers?

Many Myths Surround the Product...

Dehydration (drying) technology retains effectiveness of the parent aqueous solution of polycarboxylate ether. Polycarboxylate ethers belong to a family of designer water-soluble polymers. Specifically, they are polymers, not dispersed chemical compounds. The difference is that polymers are manufactured in a chemical process known as synthesis or polymerization. There are many different processes of polymer synthesis. They include high- and low-temperature synthesis, high- and low-pressure synthesis, solvent-based synthesis, and many more. Notably, it is impossible to carry out the process of polycarboxylate ether synthesis in dry medium. Polymerization goes in water only. This results in water solutions of polycarboxylate ether with mass fraction of active substance of 40 to 60 %. Thus, all polycarboxylate ethers are initially synthesized as aqueous solution.

Therefore, further dehydration of the parent water solution is required to obtain dry polycarboxylate ether. It is simple in theory. It only takes water evaporation and collection of dry residues. However, it is not that easy. Polycarboxylate dehydration (drying) differs fundamentally from drying of aqueous solutions of other commonly used chemical compounds. The difference is dictated by the fact that effectiveness of polycarboxylate ether depends on the spatial structure of its molecule. Heating during dehydration process disrupts the structure leading to lower effectiveness of the finished product. Manufacturers of dry polycarboxylate ethers have to develop custom solutions to this problem, because there is no commercially available drying equipment for this purpose specifically.

Taking into consideration the foregoing, a dry polycarboxylate ether inevitably costs more than its parent solution.

It should also be noted that the process of drying on inert mass gains wide recognition globally (especially in the South-East Asia). Principally, it means that the parent aqueous solution is deposited on an inert powder and dried at high temperature. This process reduces production costs. However, the customer has to pay and transport up to 20—35 % of inert substance at the cost of polycarboxylate ether. The process can be easily identified by recommended dosage. If to make a mortar with given flow characteristics it is required to use higher dosage of dried polycarboxylate ether than the parent solution, then inert mass was used in the dehydration process.

How Do We Do It?

In contrast to common methods when the water and air mixture is heated to 95 °С up, we dehydrate the parent solution at 28°С. We could achieve it by using a unique dehydration plant. The technology is patented in the Russian Federation.
For more than a year and a half, our engineers scaled up laboratory practices and finally the plant ramped up to the target capacity in May 2020. We have introduced procedures of acceptance testing, packaging, and storage. Dry polycarboxylate ethers by SINTEFLOW exceed most products from European and Asian in terms of water-reducing effectiveness and persistence.

We do not use any inert powders or anticaking agents in the polycarboxylate ether dehydration process. Our customers buy 100 % pure substance and do not pay for inert additives or water.

Characteristics and Price

SINTEFLOW DM-50

SINTEFLOW DM-50 is a multifunctional polymer. It is intended for effective water reducing in cement and gypsum mortars.

Practical Properties:
In cement and gypsum mortars:
- Improves initial and final strength;
- Stabilizes self-leveling systems;
- Improves bending strength;
- Improves cohesion of cement and gypsum mortars;
- High particle dispersion ability makes it readily soluble in aqueous systems. It makes the product universally recommended for gun-sprayed mortars;
- Improves cohesion and viscosity of concrete mortar thus reducing rebound of the mortar during spray application;
Another significant advantage is that the product is readily soluble in cold water (close to zero degrees Celsius).

Product Composition:
No inert bodies are used for product drying. The powder contains 100 % polycarboxylate ether.
High particle dispersion ability.
Readily soluble in water at the temperature close to zero degrees Celsius. Unrestricted solubility in water.

Recommended Dosage:
- 0.1 % to 0.2% by weight of the binder.
The dosage may be increased up to 0.35 %. If higher dosage is used, monitor the mixture stability and strength gain dynamics.

Packaging
The product is packed into 15 kg polypropylene bags. The bags are stacked on 1,200 x 1,200 pallets to net weight of 465 kg and wrapped into stretch film.

Minimum Order
- 1 bag.

SINTEFLOW DD-50

SINTEFLOW DD-50 is a polyfunctional polymer. It is intended for effective water reducing in cement and gypsum mortars and extension of fluent phase in water-based cement and gypsum compositions
